About MAEER's

Maharashtra Academy of Engineering Education & Research (MAEER) was the first step in the educational revolution in the private sector in Maharashtra, which is the third largest state in the country. In the early eighties, Maharashtra,, despite its rich heritage, the teachings of myriad saints, and a lineage of some of the greatest leaders in the world, faced a lack of sufficient opportunities in the field of education in private sector.

With this realization, commenced the journey of MAEER in 1983 and Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) – one of the first private engineering colleges in Maharashtra – was established. To this day, it remains the flagship institute of MIT Group. With the sole objective of meeting the long felt need of a centre of scientific and educational research, which would meet the challenges posed by the present and the future technical advancements, MIT Group of Institutions was established as a society and charitable trust. Since then, the Group has grown in leaps and bounds, and has made a strong impact in the field of education throughout the country.

With more than 10 campuses in Maharashtra, spread over hundreds of acres, MIT Group provides education in disciplines such as engineering, medicine, pharmacy, marine engineering, insurance, telecom management, lighting & design, food technology, retail management, business administration and governance, apart from school education. At any given point of time, more than 50,000 students are pursuing various courses all over the 72+ MIT Institutes, under 5 private universities.

MIT Group believes in developing the overall personality of its students in order to create future responsible global citizens. Hence, training is imparted on the basis of five principles that highlight MIT’s holistic development policy.

While traversing the path of progressive education, MIT has also been responding positively to the changing needs of the nation. Over the decades, MIT has evolved by overcoming hurdles arising out of limitations of thinking in the bygone era, and has been successfully exploring the vastness of knowledge and possibilities on the global canvas.
